Blue Ridge Brutal Bike Ride on August 12th

This challenging ride onto the Blue Ridge Highway serves as a fundraiser for the Ashe Civic Center with over 350 cyclists expected to descend on Ashe County roads. Supported by community sponsorships, fire and rescue and lots of volunteers, the Brutal plays Bike Ride host to cyclists from all over the East Coast and beyond.

There are three Brutal Bike Ride options – 102, 72 and 55 miles. The start and finish point for all of them is the Ashe Civic Center in West Jefferson. All of the Rides are challenging and spend at least 20 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway. While challenging, each of the rides travels through some of the most beautiful scenery in North Carolina.

The Assault on Mt. Jefferson

Entry for this additional 3.1 mile challenge is limited to only 80 riders and is not for the faint hearted. The elevation gain is almost 1,454 feet which, although never classified, makes this ride very comparable to a Category 2 climb. Those who attempt this at the end of completing their main ride will be provided transport back to the finish point. Riders are not permitted to cycle back down – sorry!!

If you do not want to ride, yet still want to support the event, volunteers are welcome! For more information, call: 336-846-2787.

When: Saturday, August 12, 2017
Time: 8am – 5pm
Registration fee:$80
