Boone Heritage Festival

The Southern Appalachian Historical Association and the town of Boone will present the Boone Heritage Festival, held outdoors in the beautiful wooded setting of the Hickory Ridge Living History Museum.

Celebrating Appalachian heritage, the Boone Heritage Festival includes musical performances, storytellers, historical demonstrations from the colonial/Revolutionary time period, vendors, regional crafts, children’s activities, food, and a raffle.

18th Century skills demonstrations will be ongoing throughout the day by vendors, volunteers of the museum and members of local community.

Demonstrations will include:

 
  • • Basketweaving
  • • Traditional Appalachian Toys
  • • Flintlock Rifle Firing
  • • Campfire Cooking
  • • Spinning Wool

At the festival, children and their families can participate in a variety of activities, such as:

  • • Cornhusk Crafts 
  • • Foil "Tin-Punch" Lanterns 
  • • Tomahawk Throwing
  • • Pumpkin and Gourd Bowling​

Don’t miss this event that celebrates Appalachian traditions, history, and heritage as well as contemporary Appalachian life.
