Ashe County Little Theatre Presents Bus Stop

Here’s a great opportunity to enjoy one of America’s best-loved plays right here in Ashe County. Ashe County Little Theatre’s kicks off its 2018 season with the classic play, Bus Stop, which was written by famed American playwright William Inge in 1955. Some may recall that Marilyn Monroe appeared in a film version of the play in 1956. Performances of Bus Stop will run over the weekend of April 6-8, at the Ashe Civic Center in West Jefferson.

Bus Stop is a well-known “dram-edy” about the passengers on a bus traveling from Kansas City, Missouri to Wyoming who get “Shanghai-ed” in the diner of a small town in Kansas while waiting out a blizzard that has blocked the highway west. Forced to overnight in the diner, the bus driver and his passengers get to know the owner of the diner, her young waitress and the county sheriff. With tender comedy and serious interpersonal relationships, Bus Stop is funny, serious and heartwarming all at the same time.
