Ashe County and the Blue Ridge Mountains offer a community as rich in culture as it is in natural grandeur. The area is home to a number of arts festivals and culinary masterworks, and the surrounding regions boast everything from strong schools to museums, wineries and more. We even host a dramatic quorum known as the Playwright Project that brings in top theater figures from New York.
But it is the land that brings so many people here each year, and with good reason. Rolling green hills, dazzling night skies and the mighty New River create an effect that's akin to a living landscape painting, and four seasons of shifting color never fail to delight. You can ride a bicycle along the Blue Ridge Parkway in summer or hit Beech Mountain for skiing come wintertime.
Ashe County includes a small airport that can accommodate corporate and private jets with ease. It has never been easier to get away from it all and discover your own cabin or mountainside retreat. Our offices are found in the "Arts District" of downtown West Jefferson.
