Over Thanksgiving weekend, on Friday, November 23rd and Saturday, November 24th, elves will be on duty at Ashe County’s Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock to take you and your family to Santa, Cookies and Movies. Follow the horseshoes to the Carriage Rides! Another way to make the most out of living in the High Country!
Horse and Carriage Rides around Chetola Lake
Rides begin in front of Timberlake’s Restaurant and travel around Chetola Lake to the Gate House and back.
When: 5:30 to 9:30pm – Sign up on Timbers Patio each day of event beginning at 4:45pm - First come-first served!*
Cost: Adults: $20
Children 3-12: $10; ages and younger are free
*No pre-reservations will be taken; sign-up for each night's rides begins at 4:45pm on the Timbers Patio on each respective day
Santa visits Chetola!
Rumor has it that Santa’s path puts him right over Chetola on Friday and Saturday nights. Stop by and don’t forget to tell the kids to bring their wish lists!

Bring the kids by for free cookie decorating. You provide the cookie decorators, we provide the cookies, frosting, sprinkles, and other goodies used to create a yummy masterpiece!

Cozy up for some holiday classics, make a batch of reindeer food, and enjoy the spirit of the holidays.

Bob Timberlake Meet & Greet - Friday only
Chat with artist and designer Bob Timberlake about everything from art and food, to clay shooting and family. Mr. Timberlake has a fantastic story for everything. Bring a favorite book or purchase his new 2019 calendar that evening to have them signed by one of North Carolina's greatest.

Chetola's Festival of Lights
Thousands of holiday illuminations light up Chetola beginning at dusk on Friday, Nov. 23 and running through the end of Blowing Rock Winterfest, January 24-27, 2019. As you drive around Chetola Lake view glittering ice skaters, a Nativity scene, a colorful train, Rudolph’s “Holiday Catch” and much more.
