Totally 80s Retro Ski Weekend at Beech Mountain

Hop in Beech Mountain’s ski slope time machine and travel back to the decade of the 1980s. This seventh annual weekend includes retro skiing daily, live '80s music nightly and plenty of throwback activities in between.

Beech Mountain is located about 48 miles from West Jefferson and 25 miles from Boone. Now in its seventh year, this epic weekend has grown to four days of bending the space-time continuum: Thurs., Feb. 22, through Sun., Feb. 25, 2018.

The fun includes a dayglow ski parade, Ms. Pac Man contest, Rubik's Cube competition, '80s name that tune, and the popular $500 Totally Retro Apparel Contest. Only Beech Mountain takes you back to a time when ski clothes featured shoulder pads, rock stars wore spandex, and video killed the radio star.

Experience a weekend that has been named one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society. Here are some of the 2018 highlights:

- $100 Rubik's Cube Competition
- $100 Ms. Pac Man Contest
- Appearances by Hot Tub Time Machine bear
- Over the Top Arm Wrestling Contest
- Totally Tubular Snow tubing at Beech Mountain Resort
- Youth Cosmic Sledding on Friday night
- Weekend emcees Ace & TJ
- Kids Retro Apparel Contest on Sunday afternoon
