Turtle Island Preserve event: Families Learning Together

  • Turtle Island Preserve event: Families Learning Together

At this spectacular event near Boone, experience alternative ways of life first-hand. Enjoy classes and demonstrations such as blacksmithing, meat-smoking, solar power, and historic building methods.

Turtle Island Preserve is the passion project of founder Eustace Conway. You may have seen him in the popular History Channel show, "Mountain Men." Turtle Island Preserve is an environmental education center and 1000-acre wildlife preserve near Boone, where Eustace directs a unique visionary approach of getting people in touch with nature.

Families Learning Together” serves as Turannual spring fundraiser to promote sustainable and natural living through teaching earth skills from a range of instructors. The event is hosted at Turtle Island Preserve’s beautiful wooded campus.

This is your chance to return to nature and connect with a living farm, community organizations, craftsmen and teachers. While enjoying live mountain music, see examples of solar and water power systems, historic building practices, and join in on classes and demonstrations in food, blacksmithing, wood working, knife craft, blade sharpening, plant foraging, and many more. Visitors will learn through experience with a hands-on approach to an alternative way of life. Classes and workshops will be held throughout the day for all age groups.

You will get to see, hear, taste, touch and feel things here that you just won't get to experience anywhere else! Join us for this important event.
