Lansing, North Carolina

If you prefer a relaxing mountain lifestyle, the charming town of Lansing is a perfect choice for your next home. This friendly town in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains is sure to please those looking for a scenic mountain get-away.

The town of Lansing was officially chartered in May of 1928. Like many other towns in Ashe County, it thrived when the Virginia-Carolina Railroad was built through Ashe County in the early 20th century. The town is a little quieter now that a train doesn’t come through twice every day, but there are still many reasons to visit this picturesque community in the mountains of North Carolina.

Both visitors and locals enjoy spending quiet afternoons at the Lansing Creeper Trail Park. The park features a short walking or biking path, a small fenced area for dogs, a community garden, a stage, and a nice view of Big Horse Creek just before it joins the North Fork of the New River. There are also areas for fishing, camping, and a swing set to keep the kids entertained. Bring a picnic and enjoy this tranquil space in the town of Lansing.

If more adventure is what you’re after, be sure to check out the 4-mile mountain biking loop adjacent to Lansing Creeper Trail Park. It features challenging terrain with tight switchbacks, roots, rocks, and thrilling descents. More beginner trails are also being added to this unique mountain biking area. The town of Lansing is also only 25 minutes away from the trailhead of the Virginia Creeper Trail, a popular packed gravel path that stretches 35-miles from Whitetop to Abington, Virginia.

Lansing is also home to some of the freshest cider in the state. Molley Chomper Cidery crafts high-quality hard cider right in the town of Lansing. The cidery aims to show-off the delicious fruit from the southern Appalachian region. Molley Chomper distributes their Ashe County-made cider all over North Carolina, but you can have it fresh-pressed when you’re in Lansing.
