You’ll enjoy the mountain’s breathtaking visits as we learn a few fun facts about the sun and the eclipse on this special day. Don't forget to protect your eyes! Note: Mt. Jefferson State Natural Area is not in the path of totality for this eclipse.

What do steam locomotives and the Blue Ridge Mountains have in common? A history that goes back to the 1800s! Over the August 26-27 weekend, celebrate the golden age of steam locomotives behind Tweetsie's historic coal-fired, steam locomotives. There will be special train rides, performances by Cherokee dancers, crafts from the Tsa-La-Gi Touring Program, tours of the Steam Locomotive Repair Shop and much more.

This favored festival has been serving the Banner Elk community with a unique eclectic array of art from international and mountain fine artists and master crafters for over twenty years.
