On Saturday, September 23rd, check out Art on the Mountain, sponsored by the Ashe County Arts Council. This special event features over thirty artists and craft persons who will set up their creative wares on the grounds of the Ashe Arts Center in West Jefferson. Holiday gift ideas, fall theme items, unique art pieces, crafts and more will be for sale. Plus several artists will be demonstrating their artwork including basket weaving, quilting and wood-working.

Enjoy a day filled with live music, games, nature activities, hikes, wagon rides, craft and cultural demonstrations, hands-on activities, history and food at the 13th Annual Elk Knob Headwaters Community day.

Over the August 26-27 weekend, celebrate the golden age of steam locomotives behind Tweetsie's historic coal-fired, steam locomotives. There will be special train rides, performances by Cherokee dancers, crafts from the Tsa-La-Gi Touring Program, tours of the Steam Locomotive Repair Shop and much more.
