Come check out the first annual craft beer and wine tasting festival in downtown West Jefferson! This event celebrates the talented brewers and vintners in the northwest North Carolina region with a focus on the process of creating craft beer and wine. A percentage of the proceeds will go to support "Shoes for Kids" a local organization that provides shoes for children in need.

The Museum of Ashe County presents Ashe County Tours the second Saturdays of May through October. Each tour will be conducted by a knowledgeable guide who will share stories from the community and point out what makes each community unique as well as special architecture that is rooted in various time periods. The first tour starts with Grassy Creek.

Get ready to feast and have fun at Savor Blowing Rock which will take place Thursday, May 3 through Sunday, May 6.

Looking for some culture in the High Country? Look no further than the Ashe Arts Council! Here’s a smattering of events the arts council is sponsoring this May and June:

The Museum of Ashe County will be featuring a Memorial Day Concert that includes TWO wonderful groups, The Sheets Family Band and In Harmony, in the first of their Holiday Music on the Green concerts. This is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Sponsored by Friends of High Country State Parks, this “family friendly” canoe and kayak race proceeds go to the five area state parks. The cost to enter is $15 per person or $25 for a “family float”. Boats can start anytime between 9am-1:30pm. The first 200 registrants will receive a T-Shirt. After the race, enjoy food from the taco truck, music and activities at the New River State Park, Wagoner Access.
