Ashe County's very own West Jefferson boasts one of the most eclectic summer festivals in the southeast, Christmas in July. The festival attracts thousands of visitors to downtown West Jefferson to celebrate the area's deep roots for producing the quintessential American Christmas Tree, the Frasier Fir. Ashe County's Christmas tree industry is without a doubt something worth celebrating. Approximately 2 million Christmas trees are sold every holiday season, placing Ashe among the top three producing counties in the nation every year.
